Prof. Dr. Nentwig – implants

Univ. Prof. Dr. med. dent. Dr. med. dent. h.c. Georg-Hubertus Nentwig held the professorship for dental surgery and implantology at the Goethe University Frankfurt from 1991 to 2017. He not only developed his own implant systems, which are used today all over the world, but also devoted himself intensively to reconstructive surgery in order to reconstruct lost jaw bones and restore them with implants and fixed teeth. For this purpose, depending on the initial situation, so-called bone replacement materials or the patient’s own bone can be used, which in most cases can be extracted from the jaw region. Even “hopeless cases”, where the major part of the jawbone has been lost due to previous periodontal diseases, can be reconstructed with these techniques (e.g. sinus lift, onlay augmentations, etc.) to be ready for implantation.

During his long research and teaching activities at the Frankfurt University Hospital, the focus was on the safety of treatment for patients. A long-term study over 20 years with the Ankylos implant system developed by him showed a remarkable success rate of 93%.

Prof. Nentwig was key in establishing the international Master’s programme in Oral Implantology at Frankfurt University Hospital and continues to teach extensively at home and abroad. He is a member of all renowned scientific implantological societies and currently holds the office of Vice President of the German Society for Oral Implantology.

With the new MyPLant II system, which he presented to experts at the International Dental Fair in Cologne in 2017, practically all areas of application for implants can be covered. The special feature is that innovative surgical techniques often allow immediate prosthetic restoration so that the patient leaves the practice with fixed teeth. Surgical procedures require a high degree of sensitivity and technical skill in order to achieve an optimal result quickly and gently. The elimination of pain plays an important role, whereby local anaesthesia is completely sufficient for most procedures.

In special cases there is of course the possibility of premedication or outpatient general anaesthesia.

On the basis of state-of-the-art radiological methods (3D diagnostics), all relevant findings can be collected and evaluated in our practice so that detailed planning can take place in advance. You, dear patient, thus receive a transparent treatment and cost structure.

Of course, we are also happy to work together with your family dentist if part of the treatment, e.g. prosthetics, is to be carried out there.

Since the existence of the FOCUS list of doctors, which is updated annually, Prof. Nentwig has been one of the top specialists in implantology without interruption. He is also an appointed expert of the Landeszahnärztekammer Hessen.
